Robbie Fowler believes that Luis Suarez is on the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on current form.

The 26-year-old forward has been Liverpool’s standout performer this season, scoring 17 Premier League goals to help Brendan Rodgers’ side up to second in the table and two points behind Arsenal.

I wouldn’t be embarrassed to say Luis Suarez’s name in the same breath as those two

The Uruguay international was the star of the show and netted twice as Liverpool recorded an impressive 5-0 victory at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

And ex-Reds forward Fowler is convinced that Suarez is among the top three players in the world at present.

“Messi and Ronaldo are unbelievable players but in all honesty, I wouldn’t be embarrassed to say Luis Suarez’s name in the same breath as those two. His form has been phenomenal – right now Suarez is definitely on the same level,” Fowler told the London Evening Standard.

“An extra three or four-year contract for Suarez shows that the club want to tie him down and aim towards getting in the top four.

“They’ve shown they’re willing to stand by him and believe in him, and equally they’re repaying him for his form this season, so I think it’s a good decision.”
