Tomas Rosicky backs Theo Walcott to lead Arsenal attack
Tomas Rosicky says Theo Walcott would be a more-than-capable replacement for Olivier Giroud up front
Tomas Rosicky believes that Theo Walcott would be a more-than-capable replacement for Olivier Giroud should Arsene Wenger opt to rotate his front-line for Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle.
Walcott has netted four goals in two Premier League games since returning from an abdominal injury, while Giroud has not scored since the 2-0 win over Southampton in November.
He’s a real threat in the box, he’s got an eye for the goal so it’s very good to have him back
And midfielder Rosicky feels that the England international has dramatically improved his finishing in recent seasons.
“The goal-scoring threat is the main thing with Theo,” Rosicky told Arsenal Player.
“You can see he is a very good finisher. Since I joined Arsenal – Theo came six months earlier than me – I’ve seen him grow from let’s say the kid when he arrived.
“You could see that he would be good finisher [then], which is what he’s showing now.
“He’s a real threat in the box, he’s got an eye for the goal so it’s very good to have him back because you never have enough guys like that.”
