Brendan Rodgers believes Tottenham Hotspur have a strong enough squad to win the Premier League title this season.

Second-placed Liverpool face rivals Spurs at White Hart Lane on Sunday as the Reds look to stay in touch with Premier League leaders Arsenal, who are five points clear at the top of the table.

Tottenham will look at what they have spent and they will give themselves a chance of maybe winning the title

Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, who spent over £100m on new players this summer, was coming under increasing pressure in November until back-to-back away wins at Fulham and Sunderland in early December.

And Rodgers reckons the north London side are one of the teams in contention to challenge for the top-flight crown due to the quality and size of their squad.

“People look at Spurs and question how they’ve done but I think they’ve done terrifically,” Rodgers said.

“They have a strong and deep squad and they are right up there in the league.

“There are six or seven teams involved in the race for the top four.

“Everyone will look at Manchester City as having the outstanding squad but Tottenham will look at what they have spent and they will give themselves a chance of maybe winning the title.

“Chelsea historically have been up there and Arsenal have made an excellent start also so I think it is open.

“We really relish going there (White Hart Lane). Our last two performances, the goals we have scored have been outstanding and we know we can go anywhere and score goals.”
