Michael Laudrup will stay at Swansea City despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to Morten Wieghorst.

Spurs are without a manager after sacking Portuguese coach Andre Villas-Boas on Monday following a 5-0 loss to Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

Michael has always attracted interest and that’s because he’s doing a great job

Laudrup, who led the Swans to the League Cup last season, is among the candidates that have been linked with the vacant position at the north London club.

But the Dane’s assistant manager Wieghorst is confident the former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder will remain at the Liberty Stadium despite the speculation.

“I don’t think the club should be worried,” said Wieghorst.

“We’ve seen in his time here he’s been linked with a few vacant jobs and he’s said: ‘I’m staying’.

“Michael has always attracted interest and that’s because he’s doing a great job [and] because he’s a great manager and because of what he’s done in the game.”
