Wenger gives latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Man City trip
Bacary Sagna will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Arsenal's Premier League clash at Manchester City
Bacary Sagna will undergo a late fitness test ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash at Manchester City on Saturday.
The France international right-back has not featured for the Gunners since the 3-0 win at Cardiff last month after picking up a hamstring problem.
And manager Arsene Wenger revealed that the 30-year-old will be assessed ahead of the trip up north later on Friday.
I feel Lukas Podolski is still a bit short to go into a match of that level of intensity but after this weekend I will consider him to be available
“The final check will be made on Friday morning because only yesterday the players came in, but everybody felt all right,” said Wenger.
“We have some doubts. The main doubt we have is about Sagna, who will have a test [on Friday] and after that I will make the decision about whether I take him with us or not. I am optimistic [about Sagna’s chances of featuring] but it’s my nature.”
Wenger also confirmed that forward Lukas Podolski is available for selection again after recovering from the hamstring strain which has kept him out of action since August.
However, the Arsenal boss is not planning to rush the Germany international back to action.
“He is available,” said Wenger of Podolski.
“I feel he is still a bit short to go into a match of that level of intensity but after this weekend I will consider him to be available.”
