Wojciech Szczesny believes that Arsenal’s festive fixtures present the perfect chance for the Gunners to reclaim first place in the Premier League table.

The north Londoners travel to West Ham on Boxing Day before taking on Newcastle United at St James’ Park, while current leaders Liverpool face Manchester City and Chelsea in their next two games.

We just need to do our best to win games and collect points and be right at the top come the new year

And goalkeeper Szczesny feels that Arsenal, who are currently level on points with leaders Liverpool, have a good chance of being top of the table in time for the new year.

“We’ve had a very tough run recently,” said Szczesny. “Now we have a lot of games coming up and we want to take advantage of the fact that a lot of the big teams are playing each other.

“Liverpool are playing Manchester City and Chelsea, so we just need to do our best to win games and collect points and be right at the top come the new year.

“We’re in the middle of a very tough season, but we look forward to every single game and right now I’m looking forward to West Ham.”
