Tim Sherwood admits Arsenal have “surprised everyone” this season – but promised that Tottenham will head to The Emirates on Saturday aiming to knock the Gunners out of the FA Cup.

Arsene Wenger’s men are currently top of the Premier League table after an impressive start to the new season as they look to win a major trophy for the first time since 2005.

And although Spurs boss Sherwood has been impressed with Arsenal’s form so far this term, he is confident that the Lilywhites have what it takes to win the third-round tie in north London.

“Arsenal have surprised everyone this season,” said Sherwood. “You have to give them credit. They’ve got on a roll and play some fantastic football.

“We’ll treat the game with the respect it deserves and approach it to win. We know how much it means to the fans.

“We’ll try to get our offensive players on the ball as much as we can and we feel we can cause them some problems.

“This club has great history and tradition in the FA Cup and we hope to continue that by winning at The Emirates.”
