Julian Draxler is perfectly suited to Arsenal’s style of play, according to former Gunners midfielder Robert Pires.

The north Londoners have been heavily linked with a big-money swoop for the Schalke youngster in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his attacking options.

I always think that he fits perfectly with Arsenal’s style of football

And former Arsenal winger Pires feels that Draxler would slot straight into Wenger’s side as they look to win the Premier League title this season.

“Julian is a good player,” Pires told SPOX.com. “He’s young and has a lot of potential for development.

“When I watch him play, I always think that he fits perfectly with Arsenal’s style of football.

“I can see him playing well on the left-hand side or in attack. He could really strengthen the team.”

Pires’ comments come after Schalke general manager Horst Heldt insisted that the Bundesliga club are yet to receive a formal offer from the Gunners.

“You should ask Mr Wenger, call him. There’s no contact with Arsenal or any other club,” said Heldt.
