Mesut Ozil has singled out Tomas Rosicky for special praise following the Germany international’s club-record move to Arsenal.

Ozil has slotted seamlessly into the north London club’s first-team since arriving at Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid in the summer.

In my opinion Tomas belongs to the best midfielders in the Premier League

Rosicky, 33, has enjoyed a return to form for Arsenal this season and netted the Gunners’ second goal as they beat local rivals Tottenham 2-0 in the FA Cup third round.

And Ozil feels that the Czech Republic international is one of the finest midfielders in the English top flight.

“We are similar types of player,” Ozil told Arsenal Player. “We’re strong when we’re on the ball, we play quickly and I have lots of fun playing alongside the team.

“In my opinion Tomas belongs to the best midfielders in the Premier League.

“When you see how much he gives for the team and how he enjoys being on the ball it makes us happy to have a player like that in our ranks.”

Ozil also expressed his delight at the way he has adapted to life in north London.

“Before I came to Arsenal, I knew that the club belonged among the top five in Europe,” he said.

“I knew that they were technically gifted and strong and you see that on the training ground when we are doing passing drills – the ball is always moving.

“I think that’s thanks to the way young players are coached at the club because they always train with the ball, run passing drills and ultimately it’s being rewarded.”
