Brendan Rodgers says he is determined to bolster his Liverpool squad with “quality” signings during the January transfer window.

The Reds have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks as they look to keep their bid for a top-four finish on track.

Rodgers’ side are currently fourth in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Arsenal.

We need to bring in players of quality and hopefully we can do that

FC Basel winger Mohamed Salah and Barcelona forward Cristian Tello are among the names touted as potential January targets for the Merseyside club.

And Rodgers insists that he is looking to add only high-quality players to his squad during the mid-season transfer window.

“We’ve just got to see what’s available. We know that we would like to strengthen the squad for the run in,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website.

“So we just need to see what’s available and what that’s going to cost, basically.

“There’s no point in just stockpiling players for the sake of it. We need to bring in players of quality and hopefully we can do that.”
