Brendan Rodgers has tipped Philippe Coutinho to find his form in front of goal for Liverpool, despite his recent scoring woes.

The Brazil international has struggled to find the net since returning from a shoulder injury which he suffered in a 2-2 draw with Swansea in September.

I look at him as a Luka Modric type

The 21-year-old has scored a meagre two goals in 14 Premier League appearances this term, finding the back of the net at Goodison Park and The Etihad.

Liverpool boss Rodgers see similarities between Reds playmaker Coutinho and former Tottenham and current Real Madrid dynamo Luka Modric, who scored 17 goals in 159 Spurs appearances.

And the Northern Irishman is confident that Coutinho will start to score more goals for the Merseyside outfit in the coming seasons.

“I think Coutinho will get more [goals] too. I look at him as a Luka Modric type,” Rodgers said.

“And when you look at Modric over four years at Tottenham he got 13 goals [in the league] but his influence was massive and Coutinho is of that type.

“He will naturally get more goals but he is a wonderful player for us, he is a key who opens up many things in a game.”
