Luis Suarez admits that it feels “unbelievable” to be touted as one of the best players in the world.

The 26-year-old has been in sparkling form for Liverpool this season, scoring 22 goals and making five assists in 16 Premier League appearances.

Now many people or players speak about that and it’s unbelievable for me

Cristiano Ronaldo scooped his second Ballon d’Or in Zurich on Monday – and the Reds forward has already been put forward as a serious contender next year.

And Suarez, who was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and Real Madrid this summer, feels that he has changed his mentality over the past months.

“When you are a child, you imagine a lot. Now many people or players speak about that and it’s unbelievable for me,” Suarez told Liverpool’s website.

“And also for Liverpool, because in the last two or three years we have not played very well and not demonstrated our level. Now we are back to that.

“You work hard for the supporters and the people. It’s important because the last few months were a little difficult for me. Now I’ve changed and it’s okay.”

Suarez has scored 60 goals in 90 top-flight appearances since moving to Liverpool in a £22.75m deal from Ajax in January 2011.
