Swansea 2 Man City 3: Yaya Toure hails ‘key’ second goal
Swansea 2 Man City 3: Yaya Toure hails his key second goal after the Citizens edged to victory over the Swans
Yaya Toure felt Manchester City’s second goal was key to securing three points after the Citizens edged to victory over Swansea.
Fernandinho broke the deadlock at the Liberty Stadium with a long-range strike before Swans striker Wilfried Bony levelled on the stroke of half-time.
It was a key goal for us
Toure restored City’s lead with a deflected 58th-minute strike before Aleksandar Kolarov cemented the win with a brilliant goal.
Ivory Coast international Bony netted a late consolation, and his compatriot Toure talked up the significance of his strike in the New Year’s Day encounter.
“I think it was a key goal for us,” Toure told Sky Sports News.
“I should have scored a goal earlier but [my goal] was a key one for us. Swansea are a good side, but we deserved the win today.
“Of course [Aleksandar Kolarov’s] goal was a team movement [to make it 3-1], and he has taken the ball 50 yards so it was it unbelievable. It was a fantastic goal as well. It was amazing.”
