Nacer Chadli has decided to stay and fight for his first-team place at Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Belgian’s agent.

The 24-year-old appeared to be heading towards a temporary move away from White Hart Lane after agent Daniel Evrard claimed the winger wanted to secure a loan move in January.

Chadli has made two assists in seven Premier League starts after the midfielder’s £7m switch to White Hart Lane from FC Twente in the summer.

However Evrard revealed that his client has performed a remarkable U-turn and wants to remain at the north London club and prove his value to Tim Sherood.

“Nacer has been thinking about a loan but after a good conversation with the club, we have decided to stay,” London Evening Standard quotes Evrard as saying.

“Spurs is still the best choice.”

Earlier on Thursday, Evrard was quoted as saying that Chadli needed to secure regular football elsewhere to boost his chances of being included in Belgium’s World Cup squad.

“His situation is not easy at Tottenham at the moment,” Evrard told the Daily Star.

“The World Cup is arriving, so it’s a problem.

“For him to play at the World Cup it’s important, so why not a loan?

“We haven’t spoken to Tottenham yet but I know there are clubs interested in him. It’s very difficult for him because we’ve not seen the best of him at Tottenham. He has big potential so he is a little bit frustrated.”
