Cesc Fabregas has warned Arsenal that they must be “very consistent” if the Gunners want to end their long wait to lift the Premier League crown.

Arsene Wenger’s men are currently two points clear of Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of their clash against top-four chasing Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.

They need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season

Former Arsenal captain Fabregas failed to win the Premier League title before sealing a £35m move to his boyhood club Barcelona in 2011.

And the La Liga winner is desperate to see Arsenal end their 10-year wait to secure a 14th English top-flight crown.

“I watch every game of Arsenal’s,” Fabregas told Sportsmail. “I am very happy how they are playing, they have a strong squad, they are top of the league.

“I cannot wait to see if they can lift the trophy finally.

“It would be amazing, they need to be very consistent between now and the end of the season.”

Asked whether Barcelona learnt any lessons from Chelsea’s 1-0 win at The Etihad ahead of their Champions League clash against Manchester City, Fabregas said: “In one season it’s impossible to win every single game, you will always lose.

“Whether it’s the League Cup, FA Cup, Champions League, there’s so many games.

“The Premier League is a very tough league. Anyone can beat you. It was a very entertaining game.”
