The Gunners were heavily linked with a big-money swoop for Schalke youngster Julian Draxler during the mid-season window but a move failed to materialise before Wenger recruited Kim Kallstrom on loan from Spartak Moscow.
Recent media reports have linked Arsenal with an £80m triple swoop for Lukasz Piszczek, Lars Bender and Jackson Martinez in the summer.
But Wenger dismissed any talk of possible transfers at his pre-match news conference on Thursday morning.
“You understand certainly very well that my focus is on Liverpool and not so much on the transfer market,” said Wenger. “My eye is not on the transfer market at the moment.”
We never wanted to replace Giroud, we always had complete confidence in him
Arsenal had a big-money bid for Luis Suarez rejected by Liverpool over the summer, but Wenger insists that he has no regrets over the failed move.
“No [I have no regrets],” said the Frenchman. “You sometimes have regrets when a player played for you, and scores goals or does well somewhere else. He was never our player, it is just a situation that did not come off and that is it.
“But it was not to replace Olivier Giroud. We never wanted to replace Giroud, we always had complete confidence in him. I said at the beginning of the season that he always does better in the second year everywhere and he shows that again this season.
“He is a very important player for us and I am not surprised at all he is doing well.”
