Arsene Wenger’s men are currently top of the Premier League table and two points clear of Chelsea and Manchester in the title race.

They are a terrific club and a team who are up there on merit

The Gunners have only lost twice in 23 top-flight outings since a 3-1 defeat by Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.

And Rodgers heaped praise on Arsenal’s “world-class” manager , adding that the Gunners deserve to be in first position following their performances.

“With only 14 games to go, every game is critical between now and the end of the season,” Rodgers told the ECHO.

“We know if we win the game it takes us to 50 points – only five behind Arsenal and only three behind the others.

“Arsenal are leading the pack and we are one of the clubs chasing.

“I haven’t been surprised by them. For the last 15 odd years they have been in the top four.

“They have some outstanding players and a world class manager who has been around the block for many years. They are a terrific club and a team who are up there on merit.

“It’s a big game but we will approach it as we do every game. We will just concentrate on performance level and if we do that the result takes care of itself really.”
