Arsene Wenger reflected on an opportunity missed after his Arsenal side were held to a goalless draw by Manchester United.

The Gunners squandered the chance to move top of the Premier League table after the Red Devils kept the north London side at bay on Wednesday night.

We have come back with better confidence now, now it’s important to get wins again

The result left Arsenal second in the table and a point behind leaders Chelsea with 12 games left to play this season.

And Wenger could not hide his disappointment following his side’s failure to beat the defending champions.

“When you don’t win it’s always a missed opportunity when you want to chase for the title,” Wenger told Arsenal Player.

“Let’s say it’s a disappointing result against a good team but the attitude of the players, the fighting spirit, was very reassuring.

“We have come back with better confidence now, now it’s important to get wins again.”

Wenger continued: “I think overall we could have won 1-0. I felt we had more of the game than Man United but they remain always dangerous with the quality strikers they have on the counter-attack when you throw everything forward.

“When you look at the quality of players they have, they can still beat any team in the Premier League. We had two or three chances but we didn’t manage to score a goal in a game of very few chances.”
