Brendan Rodgers believes Liverpool have sufficient quality in their squad to secure a top-four finish despite failing to land any signings in January.

The Reds were left frustrated during the transfer window after missing out on Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah and Dnipro playmaker Yevhen Konoplyanka.

We’re up there at the moment and I can only be optimistic about what we can achieve with the players we have

But Liverpool manager Rodgers, whose side face Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, backed his current Reds squad to finally secure a long-awaited return to the Champions League.

“Every manager will always want more but we can’t affect that any more,” Rodgers told the ECHO.

“We tried to do business over January and unfortunately it didn’t happen.

“I know where we need to strengthen, absolutely, but as the coach and the manager my focus can only now be on not what happened yesterday but what we need for tomorrow.

“We have now got the 14 remaining league games and we have the players here who have taken us this far.

“Now the focus is on getting as much as we can out of the players we have here. This group have done absolutely brilliant for me until now.

“We’re up there at the moment and I can only be optimistic about what we can achieve with the players we have.”
