Jose Mourinho insists Chelsea won’t struggle to keep Thibaut Courtois amid interest from Real Madrid.

Los Blancos have been heavily linked with a big-money move this summer for the Belgium international, who has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons on loan at their rivals Atletico Madrid.

He has two more years of contract so he is easy to keep

The 21-year-old Courtois, who moved to Chelsea from Genk in 2011, has won the Copa del Rey, Europa League and Uefa Super Cup during his extended stay at Vicente Calderon.

However, Mourinho is adamant that the Blues aren’t concerned by interest from Atletico and Real Madrid, adding that he hasn’t given assurances to Courtois about his Chelsea future.

“No, we won’t struggle to keep him. He has two more years on his contract so he is easy to keep,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference on Friday.

“I don’t give assurances to any player. A player who has a contract with Chelsea, has a contract with Chelsea.

“If someone wants a player with a contract, we have to know.”

He continued: “The problem is when you want a player and the player belongs to another club.

“When you want a player and that player belongs to you and he has two more years on his contract, it is easy to say you have no problems.”
