Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho plays down Edinson Cavani reports
Chelsea transfers: Jose Mourinho insists the Blues haven't made a bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani

Jose Mourinho has played down speculation linking Chelsea with a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The Blues boss has made no secret of his desire to sign a centre-forward in the next transfer window, with Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres failing to impress this season.

Uruguay international Cavani was heavily linked with the Blues before completing a big-money move to cash-rich Ligue 1 champions PSG in August.
The 26-year-old forward is reportedly unhappy playing a wide role at the Parisian club, prompting reports that Chelsea and Manchester United are ready to compete for the £54m-rated South American.
However, Mourinho revealed that the Blues aren’t in negotiations to sign any players, adding that he has no idea whether Cavani is happy at PSG or if the French club are open to a potential sale.
“In this moment, we are not trying to sign anyone,” Mourinho told his pre-match media conference ahead Chelsea’s clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
He added: “I have no idea. He just arrived at Paris Saint-Germain six months ago.
“I don’t think maybe he is so happy that he doesn’t want to leave. The club is happy with him and don’t want him to leave.
“To be fair, I have no idea in this moment.”
Cavani has scored 13 goals in 21 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
