Jose Mourinho says Ashley Cole still has a future at Chelsea – but admits Thierry Henry may be able to convince the left-back to join New York Red Bulls.

The England international’s current Blues deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with mounting speculation surrounding the former Arsenal defender’s future.

Yes, he [Cole] has [a future at Chelsea], but maybe Thierry has a better proposal

The 33-year-old has been largely out of favour at the west London side since Mourinho’s return, making two appearances in the Premier League this year.

Chelsea boss Mourinho insisted that Cole does have a future at the Blues beyond the summer, but conceded Henry may be able to offer the defender a better deal.

“I have to ask Thierry Henry,” Mourinho told his media conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

“You are speaking about Thierry Henry, so speak with Thierry Henry.

“Maybe Thierry is doing with Red Bulls the same as David [Beckham] is doing in Miami. Maybe he’s buying Red Bulls.

“Yes, he [Cole] has [a future at Chelsea], but maybe Thierry has a better proposal.”
