Aaron Ramsey is in line to hand Arsenal a boost by returning to action in time for the Champions League trip to Bayern Munich next month, according to Chris Coleman.

The Wales international, who has not featured for the Gunners since picking up a thigh injury on Boxing Day, has been left out of Coleman’s squad to face Iceland in next week’s friendly.

A week or two after our game with Iceland he could be available

However, the Wales boss is expecting the 23-year-old midfielder to return to action “a week or two” later, with Arsenal travelling to Munich for the return leg of their last-16 tie on 11 March.

“After speaking with Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, who have been brilliant in the dealings, it is too early for him,” Coleman told Sky Sports.

“He re-injured the same injury some weeks ago so that hasn’t help so he won’t be available for us. A week or two after our game with Iceland he could be available depending on his recovery and how well that goes.

“Of course you’re going to get frustrated when you’re not able to field your strongest team.

“Just look at Arsenal and they’ve missed him while he’s been out injured, he’s been in the scintillating form this season and he really has matured and it’s a shame really.

“All we can do is hope and pray that when we get him, we’ve got the [Euro 2016 qualifying] campaign games coming up in September and hopefully we have Rambo [Ramsey] back for that.”
