Javier Hernandez has denied reports of a feud with Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

The 25-year-old posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account on Thursday morning after Van Persie had been quoted criticising his team-mates following a 2-0 loss to Olympiacos in the Champions League earlier this week.

Hernandez, who has been largely out-of-favour under Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor David Moyes this season, wrote on the social media site: “Without your teammates you can’t be somebody in football, always be thankful…”

The Mexican’s post was reported by the English media to be a thinly-veiled attack on his fellow United striker, who missed from close range in the closing moments of the first leg in Athens.

However, Hernandez took to his Twitter on Thursday night to explain his Instagram activity, adding that the United squad are all working towards the same goal.
