The Reds were emphatic 4-0 winners against Everton in their most recent home game and edged to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United earlier in the season.

It’s a very big game for us. The bigger they are, the better we’ve played

Brendan Rodgers

With Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and United putting pressure on the Reds for a Champions League spot, Rodgers is confident that his Liverpool players can rise to the challenge of facing the league leaders at Anfield.

“Arsenal are at the top of the league and one of the clubs that we’ve been chasing all season,” Rodgers said.

“For us, we’ve been brilliant at home. Our performance level that the players have produced over majority of the games has been outstanding.

“It’s a very big game for us. The bigger they are, the better we’ve played; Everton and Manchester United.

“Certainly for this game, we’re looking to take confidence and belief that we have at home and put in a performance to get a win for us.”

Rodgers reiterated that Liverpool’s primary object for the season is to secure a top-four finish.

“It is certainly the objective. It’s the position we’ve been in for most of the season, it means we’re fighting and we’re up there.

“I was asked the question [where we out of the title race] and I gave the answer I felt it was the right answer.

“It doesn’t mean we’re any less ambitious. Certainly being in top four is a key objective for us.”
