Liverpool should get stuck into Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal side at Anfield on Saturday, according to Jan Molby.

The Reds, who are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table, have the chance to end a six-year winless home run against the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool should view the Gunners as a side they can get stuck right into

Jan Molby

And Jan Molby hopes Liverpool have learnt lessons from their 2-0 loss at The Emirates earlier this season and produce a dominant midfield performance.

“For Liverpool, it is a chance to nail down their credentials as a serious Champions League contender,” Molby wrote in his Liverpool Echo.

“They let themselves down when they visited the Emirates back in November, but Anfield is a different proposition entirely.

“Arsenal have been impressing me more with every passing week. They are at the top of the table on merit, and they look to have ironed out some of the problems that have dogged them in recent years.

“Still, Liverpool should view the Gunners as a side they can get stuck right into.”

He added: “At The Emirates, Arsenal won the midfield battle, and it set them up to win the game. They were in Liverpool’s faces, they kept the ball better and they created openings as a result.

“Liverpool need to learn from that. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brendan set his side up a little differently to what we have seen of late, with maybe Joe Allen in for Philippe Coutinho, in a bid to get a bit more control in the middle of the park.

“Not that that is, necessarily, a defensive move. Rodgers knows that this side is best when it is on the front foot, and it needs to play to that strength.”
