Man United’s ‘exciting’ attack will take time to gel, says Wayne Rooney
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney says it will take time for the England striker and Robin van Persie to gel with Juan Mata

Wayne Rooney has warned that it will take time for Manchester United’s new-look attack to gel – but has backed the partnership to score goals.
United added club-record signing Juan Mata to their ranks in the January transfer window to help Rooney and Robin van Persie fire the Reds Devils up the Premier League table.
It can always take a little bit of time for every player to gel and to bond

Although Mata has made three assists since completing his £37.1m move from Chelsea, the United trio have failed to convince in a 3-2 loss to Stoke City and successive draws against Fulham and Arsenal.
However, Rooney believes the triumvirate will find form once the England striker and Van Persie have grown accustomed to their new team-mate.
“It’s exciting,” Rooney told United’s website.
“Juan has come in and it’s another world-class player to have in the squad. It’ll take time – it can always take a little bit of time for every player to gel and to bond but we really hope we can all start scoring goals and help the team be successful.”
Rooney talked up the benefits of United’s warm-weather training camp in Dubai as David Moyes attempts to kick-start their top-four bid.
“It’s nice to spend time together,” added Rooney. “When you’re at home you go to training then you go home and see your families, but with trips like this you’re training then spending time with the lads. It’s good for us all to be together.
“It’s a different environment for us and hopefully we can get some good training sessions in so we come back ready for the [Crystal] Palace game [on 22 February] and the start of the Champions League.”
