Manuel Pellegrini bemoaned Manchester City’s lack of fit strikers after the Citizens were held to a goalless draw at Norwich City.

Chris Hughton’s men, who were a point above the relegation zone prior to kick-off, limited the Citizens to one clear-cut chance after Spaniard Alvaro Negredo crashed a header against the woodwork.

Meanwile, the Canaries had chances of their own against the Eastlands outfit as the home side came close through forward Nathan Redmond, and Pellegrini’s men had to settle for a point.

“We are frustrated because we could not win, but we did all we could do but in front of us there was a team who defended very well,” Pellegrini told BBC Sport.

“Our strikers Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko are not 100% fit so that’s very important for the team.

“Every team will drop points, but we are still two points behind the leaders and we have 39 points to play for so we will continue the exactly the same.”

Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy, who kept just his second clean sheet of 2014, heaped praise on his Norwich team-mates after securing a valuable point in their bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

“To be fair I have to give credit to the lads in front of me, it was a great performance and one we had to produce,” Ruddy told BBC Sport.

“We saw what they were like at their place and it’s a massive point. That’s the standard we have to set ourselves between now and the end of the season.”
