Things are different at Arsenal this year, says Carl Jenkinson
Carl Jenkinson says Arsenal's team spirit can be the driving force behind their push for silverware this season
Carl Jenkinson believes that Arsenal’s team spirit can be the driving force behind their push for silverware this season.
The Gunners have been in fine form so far this term and find themselves just a point behind Premier League leaders Chelsea with 11 games left to play.
Arsene Wenger’s men are also gunning for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals when they host Everton at Emirates Stadium next weekend.
And defender Jenkinson says that a new winning mentality amongst the Arsenal squad has been a key to their success so far this term.
In previous seasons, we haven’t been miles off but we also haven’t been in the thick of it
“It’s a great time for everyone at the club at the moment,” Jenkinson told Arsenal’s website.
“We’re going into the business end now. The spirit in the group is as good as it’s ever been so it’s nice to be a part of that.
“Things are a lot different this year. In previous seasons, we haven’t been miles off but we also haven’t been in the thick of it. This year we’re up at the top of the league and there’s definitely a winning mentality in the squad. That’s a great thing to have.
“You don’t want to talk too soon about this kind of stuff but of course it’s great to be a part of it.
“As a player and as a supporter of the club, all I want is to see Arsenal doing well. If I can be a part of that and can contribute whenever I’m called upon, that’s what I’ll do.”
