Tim Sherwood demands to see ‘character’ from Tottenham players

Tim Sherwood calls on his Tottenham players to show their "character" in the coming weeks

Tim Sherwood has called on his Tottenham Hotspur players to show their “character” in the coming weeks as they look to get their top-four bid back on track.

Spurs’ hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League were dealt a blow on Sunday as they were beaten 1-0 at Norwich City to leave them six points behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

We certainly need to have character now to play in front of our home fans

Tottenham will look to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Cardiff City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

And Sherwood wants to see his players giving their all in the build-up to that game.

“Good players and good teams come back when they’re down and that’s what we’ve got to do straight away,” said Sherwood ahead of Spurs’ clash with FC Dnipro in the Europa League on Thursday.

“We certainly need to have character now to play in front of our home fans after the disappointment of losing to a team around the bottom of the league.

“That happens, what can you do? You can’t crawl into a corner and hide. You have to confront it and have a go.”
