Tim Sherwood disappointed with Tottenham’s lack of quality

Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood feels Spurs lacked quality at crucial times of their 1-0 loss to Dnipro on Thursday

Tim Sherwood admitted he was disappointed with Tottenham’s lack of quality after a 1-0 loss to Dnipro on Thursday night.

Liverpool and Spurs target Yehven Konoplyanka scored from the penalty spot after Jan Vertonghen’s foul on Matheus to give the Ukrainian side a 1-0 lead ahead of the second leg at White Hart Lane next week.

And Sherwood is confident the north London side can still progress to the Europa League last 16 despite their loss in Dnipropetrovsk.

“I can’t fault the endeavour and application from the lads, we just needed a little more quality at certain times,” Sherwood told Tottenham’s website.

“You have to give Dnipro credit, they played well. We knew they were a good side with full internationals. We had to show them respect and we did that.

“I thought we could have played better, Brad made too many saves for my liking and that’s what I told the lads. They know they can do better.

“The positive thing is we’re still in the tie, we’ll bring them back to the Lane next Thursday and hopefully we’ll stay in the competition.”
