Wojciech Szczesny admits that Arsenal’s performance at Liverpool was unacceptable and has demanded a response against Manchester United.

The north Londoners were torn to shreds by a rampant Reds display as Brendan Rodgers’ men ran out 5-1 winners at Anfield to drop the Gunners into second place in the table.

Arsenal have the chance to bounce back from the defeat when they host Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.

We will learn our lesson from this and respond quickly against Man United

And the Gunners goalkeeper is keen to draw a line under the damaging loss on Merseyside.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t match their performance and we all know what happened so we are thankful that they stayed behind us because we’ll need them for the rest of the season,” Szczesny told Arsenal Player.

“We didn’t enjoy it at all. We didn’t turn up for the first half and we got punished so there’s a lesson there to be learnt but we’ve got to turn up quickly and focus on the next game.

“We represent one of the biggest clubs in the world and what we did early on is not acceptable. We said that at half-time, we went out in the second half with a different attitude and it was much more of an even game.

“But as I said we will learn our lesson from this and respond quickly against Man United.”
