Arsenal transfers: Inter Milan express Bacary Sagna interest
Arsenal transfers: Inter Milan president Erik Thor confirms his interest in Gunners defender Bacary Sagna
Bacary Sagna is an Inter Milan target, the Italian side’s president Erik Thor has confirmed.
The France international’s current Arsenal deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with the right-back yet to agree a new contract.
I can only say that we like Sagna and that at this point it all depends on him
The 31-year-old defender has been linked with a host of European clubs amid continuing uncertainty surrounding his future in north London.
And Inter chief Thor claimed that the San Siro outfit, who are sixth in Serie A, were waiting for Sagna to make a decision on his future.
“I’m not used to making announcements if there is not a signed contract,” Thor told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I can only say that we like Sagna and that at this point it all depends on him. If he does not arrive, we will take a younger right-back.”
Last month, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted the Gunners weren’t close to tying Sagna down to a new deal.
“We are always in negotiations with him and we always try to be fair with our players,” said Wenger.
“When I say I expect [him to stay], it’s more that I want [him to stay]. I hope that in the end I am right. We are not close at the moment.”
