Arsene Wenger has given an indication that he will be at Arsenal beyond the end of the season after the Gunners confirmed a pre-season friendly with New York Red Bulls.

The 64-year-old, whose side are fourth in the table following a 2-2 draw with Swansea on Tuesday night, is yet to sign a new deal with the north London side, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.

The Arsenal manager has come under increasing pressure in recent weeks after a humiliating 6-0 loss to Chelsea and their stalemate with Swansea severely damaged their Premier League title ambitions.

And Gunners boss Wenger, in a potential clue that he does plan to extend his stay at the club, feels the friendly against Thierry Henry’s side will be good preparation for the new Premier League season.

“This will be a great chance to play in front of supporters who have not seen the team play before,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.

“The New York Red Bulls will be midway through their season, so they will provide a good test.

“Obviously it will be good to play against Thierry. He is a very special player in our club’s history and I know the players and the supporters will enjoy this very much.”
