Arsene Wenger has warned his Arsenal side that they will have to be at their best to have any chance of beating Manchester City on Saturday.

The Gunners host Manuel Pellegrini’s title challengers knowing that they need a victory to keep their fading title hopes alive.

The quality of our defensive performance will be very important on Saturday

City ran riot in the 6-3 win over Wenger’s side at Etihad Stadium earlier in the season and Wenger is wary of the attacking threat that will be posed by the visitors on Saturday.

“Manchester City are great going forward,” said Wenger. “They have a fantastic attacking force with many creative players.

“They have the biggest variety of potentialities. Certainly the quality of our defensive performance will be very important on Saturday.

“These days there are a lot of expectations around Man City. And, even though there’s a long history of foreign managers in England, I think Pellegrini has handled the tensions and the stress very well.

“He has been very quiet and very respectful because, like everybody, they had ups and downs, yet he has handled every situation very well.”
