Jose Mourinho was unhappy about Chris Foy’s performance after nine-man Chelsea were beaten by Aston Villa.

With the score at 0-0 in the second half, the Blues were reduced to 10 men at Villa Park when Willian was shown a second yellow card, before Fabian Delph flicked in Marc Albrighton’s cross to put his team in front.

Ramires was then shown a straight red card for a foul on Karim El Ahmadi as Mourinho was sent to the stands in an ill-tempered finale.

I don’t know why I was sent off. I asked, but the referee refused to speak to me

Mourinho was less-than-pleased with Foy’s decisions after the game, and was at a loss to explain why he was sent to the stands.

“We must be very, very unlucky to have another refereeing performance like this one,” said Mourinho.

“This was not about one mistake a referee can make, a penalty or not giving a penalty, but this is about a 94-minute performance.”

He continued: “I don’t know why I was sent off. I asked, but the referee refused to speak to me. One player made an aggressive move towards one of my players.

“Gabriel Agbonlahor was on the bench, he jumped onto the pitch, he was aggressive, everyone jumps onto then pitch, me and my assistants, lots of people there.

“Maybe Mr Foy thought I was aggressive, I don’t know. There are no statues in a football match, so everyone should have been sent off.”

Mourinho insisted that he was satisfied with his side’s all-round display at Villa Park.

“It was a good solid performance against a good team,” he said. “Defensively we were really strong – we had no problems to cope with Aston Villa.

“After that I prefer not to comment because I don’t want to bring the game into disrepute. In football we just have to let it go and not to comment, because if you do, you are in trouble.”
