Brendan Rodgers believes that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could be on course to become the first player worth more than £100m.

The Uruguay international has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season and has scored 28 goals in 26 games to ignite the Reds’ title charge.

His consistency has been phenomenal and what you see now is a more mature player

And Rodgers feels that the 27-year-old could be on course to develop into one of the most expensive talents in world football.

“He is certainly heading towards that,” said Rodgers ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday.

“If you look at the top people in the world, the Ronaldos, the Messis, those who have been doing it for five or six years, he would be right at that level.

“Luis is certainly on his way towards that. His consistency has been phenomenal and what you see now is a more mature player. He is a world-class talent. Things evolve and times change. Time will tell.”
