The Super Middleweight rivals will meet once again at Wembley on Saturday 31 May in what will be the first boxing fight at the new stadium in front of a potential 80,000 fans.

The previous record was 57,000 at the City of Manchester Stadium when Ricky Hatton beat Juan Lazcano in 2008.

Challenger Groves could not hide his delight after learning that the much-anticipated rematch would take place at the home of football.

“It is brilliant news for many reasons,” said Groves. “It is a huge fight and needed a big stadium.

“The fact it is in London, my home city, it is very exciting. It is a fantastic venue and hats off to Eddie Hearn for securing it.”

And champion Froch admitted that it was a “proud moment” in his career to be fighting at such a big arena.

“For me to be involved in an event like this is a very proud moment,” said Froch.

“With it being in the capital city as well, it just makes the whole history of the event phenomenal. It’s fantastic because Wembley Stadium’s massive.”
