Avram Grant believes Chelsea and Manchester City have an advantage over their rivals in the Premier League title race.

The Israeli’s former club Chelsea are currently top of the Premier League despite their 1-0 loss at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Second-placed Liverpool and Arsenal are four points behind Jose Mourinho’s men after the Reds beat Manchester United and the Gunners won the north London derby on Sunday.

But Grant feels Chelsea and City have the edge in the title race thanks to their stronger squad, but admitted it could come down to which club shows the most mental strength.

“It will be very tight,” Grant told TalkSport.

“Livepool are very good now. They are very fresh – they don’t play in other competitions. It is also amazing what Arsenal are doing this season because their squad is not like the others.

“Manchester City and Chelsea have the best squads so they have the advantage but when you come to the last few months of the seasons you need to be strong mentally and I’m looking forward to seeing who is strongest.”

Grant came close to leading Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2008 but was denied the top-flight crown on the final day of the season after Manchester United beat Wigan Athletic.
