Petr Cech insists that Chelsea are not getting carried away by their position at the top of the Premier League table.

The Blues extended their lead over second-placed Liverpool to seven points thanks to their comprehensive 4-0 victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

However, Manchester City can leapfrog the west Londoners back into top spot if they win their three games in hand over Jose Mourinho’s men.

Cech says that Chelsea have been taking each game as it comes and insists that they are not thinking about the possibility of lifting the trophy in May.

“We are going game by game, we keep saying that and that’s actually what we’ve been doing,” Cech told Chelsea’s website.

“We will try to stay on top of the league as long as we can. There’s plenty of football to be played but we are in the position where we would like to finish the season.

“City have enough experience and quality in their squad to win their games in hand, and it’s up to them to do that. We are in a good position, we go game by game and we try to do our best.”
