Chelsea transfers: Edinson Cavani ‘happy’ at Paris Saint-Germain
Chelsea transfers: Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani plays down links to the Premier League
Edinson Cavani has played down reports suggesting that he is unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain and is seeking a summer move.
The Uruguay international has been forced to play out wide to accommodate PSG talisman Zlatan Ibrahimovic following his £54m move to the French capital from Napoli last summer.
I feel good in Paris and at Paris Saint-Germain
David Moyes has been linked with a move for the 27-year-old striker as he bids to give Manchester United a much-needed facelift in the summer after a disappointing season.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign a striker in the summer, with Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres having patchy seasons.
But Cavani, who has scored 14 Ligue 1 goals, rubbished reports that he is unhappy at being shipped out to the wing.
“I do not know what they are talking about and this is not true,” Cavani said.
“The things we talk about in the dressing-room should stay in the dressing-room – I feel good in Paris and at Paris Saint-Germain.”
Meanwhile, PSG manager Laurent Blanc accused the French media of trying to “create a Cavani problem” following his side’s 6-1 aggregate win against Bayer Leverkusen.
“It’s you who create the rumours about Cavani,” added Blanc.
“The player is injured so he can’t respond on the pitch. He has some personal problems added to that and people take advantage to create a Cavani problem. However, the player is happy here.”
