Liverpool duo Henderson & Suarez my players of the season, reveals Barton
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton reveals he voted for Jordan Henderson and Luis Suárez in the PFA awards
Joey Barton has revealed that he nominated Luis Suarez for the PFA player of the year and voted Jordan Henderson for the young player of the year.
The Uruguay international has scored 28 Premier League goals this season despite missing the first five games of the campaign as he finished serving a 10-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in April 2013.
Meanwhile, Henderson has further cemented his spot in Brendan Rodgers’s first-team after initially appearing to be heading towards an Anfield exit under the Northern Irishman, scoring three goals and making seven assists.
How I voted in PFA ballet. Suarez no brainer. Henderson has had a complete turn around. I was once a critic. pic.twitter.com/OvMbDqOoGD

Barton went on to explain his selections after receiving criticism from his Twitter followers.
“Suarez and Henderson and I’m an Everton fan. Couldn’t think of any players in top 3 that where more deserving of each award,” Barton added.
“Shouldn’t win awards unless you are challenging at the end of the season in 4 title my opinion. Unless you are in an exceptionally bad side.
“Maybe I could have gone Hazard for Young player but Henderson’s improvement edged it for me. Always like to see improvement. Hazard top draw.”
He continued: “Voting criteria. Has he improved? Is his team challenging for title? Has he played well in big matches in season? If yes, you get my vote.”
