Liverpool in great position in title race, says Arsenal legend
Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith reckons Liverpool's form at Anfield will be key to their Premier League title hopes

Liverpool are in a great position in the Premier League title race, according to former Arsenal striker Alan Smith.
The Reds are four points behind Chelsea after a thrilling 6-3 victory over Cardiff City in Wales on Saturday.
If they can handle the pressure and roll over Chelsea and Manchester City or at least not lose to them… What a position for them
Alan Smith
Liverpool play their game in hand on the Blues on Wednesday night as Brendan Rodgers’s men take on struggling Sunderland.
With Chelsea and Manchester City to come to Anfield in the title run-in, Smith feels Liverpool’s home form will be key.
“They haven’t been lumbered with the Europa League. You’re not lumbered with the Champions League but they’ve benefitted from having those free weeks. That has helped Brendan Rodgers,” Smith told Sky Sports News.
“He has been able to swap his tactics about. Sometimes he has played four or five at the back, he’s used a diamond in midfield, he’s swapped Sturridge and Suarez about. That takes time in training to go through it.
“If they can continue the form they’ve had at Anfield – they’ve been sensational. If they can handle the pressure and roll over Chelsea and Manchester City or at least not lose to them… What a position for them.”
