Brendan Rodgers believes Liverpool are still “far from being perfect” after the Reds edged to a 6-3 victory at Cardiff on Saturday.

The Reds came from behind twice as Luis Suarez scored his sixth hat-trick in the English top-flight to keep Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

We’re nowhere near the finished article but while we are still improving if we’re picking up the points, that’s great

Rodgers’s side are four points behind Chelsea ahead of their game against Sunderland on Wednesday night, and the Liverpool manager is continuing to look at the bigger picture.

“Well it’s good for them [the fans] to see the level of performance,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference ahead of Sunderland clash.

“Great that they can feel excitement and get that little bounce watching their team.

“For us, it’s just about continuing the work. We’re far from being perfect. Saturday showed that.

“In the first half we were good going forward but defensively it wasn’t so good.

“But what we’ve been able to work on here, no matter the mistakes we make in a good, we’ve got a real positive attitude still.

“That’s something that shone through over the course of my time here. It’s just a continuation of that.

“We’re nowhere near the finished article but while we are still improving if we’re picking up the points, that’s great.”
