Liverpool transfers: Brendan Rodgers hints Daniel Sturridge could be in line for a new Reds deal in the summer

Brendan Rodgers has hinted Daniel Sturridge may be rewarded for his fine form with a new Liverpool contract in the summer.
The 24-year-old England international scored his 19th Premier League goal of the season in a 6-3 victory over Cardif City in the Welsh capital on Saturday.
Sturridge has been in a rich vein of form since completing a £12m move to Anfield from Chelsea in January 2012, scoring 33 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.

Rodgers revealed that the Reds won’t be engaging in contract talks with any individual until the end of the season but suggested that Sturridge could be set for an improved deal.
“There’ll be no contracts talked about until the summer,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference.
“The focus is for the club now and not for any individual as a player or a manager. We can only think about the club and doing the very best for it.
“Come the summer, there will be a number of contracts looked at by the club to retain services. He’s been outstanding since he has come here and I’m sure the owners may look at that come the summer.
“He’s certainly shown consistently over a year now that he has all the potential to be a world class striker. There’ll be a number of contracts up for review but it won’t be at this stage.”
