Liverpool’s success thanks to Sturridge & Suarez, says Sigurdsson
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson puts Liverpool's success down to Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suárez
Gylfi Sigurdsson believes Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have helped Liverpool progress this season.
The 24-year-old England striker scored his 20th Premier League goal of the campaign as the Reds were 2-1 winners against Sunderland on Wednesday night.
The way that team has been playing comes from them scoring a lot of goals and bringing a lot of confidence
And former Liverpool target Sigurdsson reckons the form of Sturridge and Suarez has brought the Reds a lot of confidence in the Premier League title race.
“I think Suarez and Sturridge have helped them a lot,” Sigurdsson is quoted as saying by London24.
“The way that team has been playing comes from them scoring a lot of goals and bringing a lot of confidence.
“You can see the way Brendan Rodgers has got them playing now. They’re a really good team defensively and in attack.”
Sigurdsson added that Spurs would be extra motivated to beat Liverpool after the Reds were 5-0 winners at White Hart Lane earlier this season.
“Every game we go into we want to win it, especially after the way we lost here last time,” Sigurdsson added.
“We’re on a mission to get as many points as we can. It’s important for us to get at least one point, if not three.”
