Man City 3 Sunderland 1: Manuel Pellegrini praises his side's "beautiful goals" after the Citizens won the Capital One Cup
Manuel Pellegrini hailed Manchester City’s beautiful goals after the Citizens were “deserved” winners of the Capital One Cup.
Yaya Toure and Sami Nasri scored speculative efforts in the second half after Sunderland striker Fabio Borini had given the Black Cats a shock early lead at Wembley.

Substitute Jesus Navas wrapped up the memorable cup win and Pellegrini, who replaced Roberto Mancini last summer, believes it is an important success ahead of the season’s climax.
“I’m very happy. The team deserve this cup because we played well during the whole cup and scored a lot of goals. It’s important for all of us – for the players, the club, for me, for the staff – all of us,” Pellegrini said.
“Sunderland play a good match also and we didn’t move the ball as fast as we needed [in the first half] but in the second half we scored two beautiful goals and had the patience to wait for the moment.”
Sunderland manager Gus Poyet praised his side for “giving everything” against the Premier League title favourites after failing to beat another Manchester side in their cup run.
“We gave it a go, but the chance to score a second goal, maybe that was the difference. We knew everything had to go for us, we knew it. Yaya Toure scored a wonder goal, Samir Nasri scored an incredible goal too. We did everything we could.
“That’s the best part of what we are all about. To beat us they had to score two wonder goals. I hate losing but I’m proud of the players.
“If we do this every week I’m sure we will stay in the Premier League and will come back to Wembley [in the FA Cup].”
