Pellegrini gives latest Man City injury update ahead of Hull clash
Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful that Sergio Agüero will only be out of action for a "couple of weeks" after new injury setback
Manuel Pellegrini is hoping that Sergio Aguero’s hamstring injury will only keep him out of action for a “couple of weeks”.
The Argentina striker was substituted at half-time during City’s Champions League defeat at Barcelona in midweek and is set to undergo tests to determine the length of his lay-off.
“Tomorrow, we will know exactly the extent of Aguero’s injury,” said Pellegrini. “We do not know exactly what is wrong. He will be out for more than one week but I don’t think it is very serious.
“I hope that he will only be out for a couple of weeks.”
The Manchester City boss also revealed that Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic are still unavailable but could make a return next week, whilst Micah Richards is out of the trip to Hull due to injury.
Manchester City are currently fourth in the Premier League table but can move above leaders Chelsea if they win their three games in hand.
“We must try to fight,” Pellegrini continued. “It is not only Chelsea [that are competing] – there is also Arsenal and Liverpool and they will fight until the end.
“Maybe Tottenham are far away at this moment but this is a very close Premier League.
“We need to win all the games from now until the end of the season. The game against Hull is special because we have less than 72 hours to recover but it is a chance to see our mentality.”
