Substitute Raheem Sterling then made it 2-0 in the 58th minute, before captain Steven Gerrard stroked home a penalty to wrap up the win.
The result lifted the Reds up to second in the table, four points behind leaders Chelsea, and Rodgers was thrilled with his side’s display.
“We got three goals and could have had five or six. The performance is up there with the Arsenal game when we won 5-1.
“This is a really difficult place to come. It was an all-round outstanding team performance.
“It was tough to leave Raheem Sterling out but I felt he could make an impact coming on with his pace. He’s very fast but we a re trying to develop him into a footballer.
“His touch is good, he can link the game and connect the game.”
Asked about his side’s chances of winning the title, Rodgers continued: “We just want to keep winning games. There are 10 games to go now and we’ll just see where it takes us.
“I just want to enjoy watching the team. We only want to win the next game, that’s our next focus.
“There’s no point in getting ahead of ourselves. We’re working had and enjoying our football and our idea now is to win the next game.”
