Sunderland 0 Crystal Palace 0: Tony Pulis happy with a point after stalemate at Stadium of Light
Tony Pulis insisted that he was happy with a point from a “must-not-lose” game after watching his Crystal Palace side play out a goalless draw at Sunderland.
Fabio Borini went closest to breaking the deadlock for the hosts when his shot in the second half hit the post at the Stadium of Light.
We haven’t got the quality of some clubs but the players have big hearts
And Kagisho Dikgacoi had Palace’s best opening but fired wide late on, as Palace earned a point to keep them just above the relegation zone.
“It was a must-not-lose game for us,” Pulis told Sky Sports. “We haven’t got the quality of some clubs but the players have big hearts.
“Julian Speroni has had two proper saves to make and I am delighted with the players, they have given it everything and that is all I can ask.
“There are half-a-dozen players who have not played at the Stadium of Light, so coming here, Gus [Poyet] had wound the supporters up, I thought they were really behind their team today and shouted and screamed for every decision and every ball.
“They were very good so for them to withstand that and then I have just seen the chance [Kagisho] Dikgacoi missed late on and that was probably the best of the game.”
